The Oregon & SW Washington Chapter currently has the following open volunteer opportunities for members. If interested, please contact [email protected]

  • Social Media Coordinator
    • Tasks: The Social Media Coordinator of the GPA Oregon & SW Washington Chapter has the following duties:
      • Manages social media pages (Facebook and LinkedIn) to encourage engagement from chapter members
      • Posts approximately 1-2 social posts per month (may be more or less depending on month and availability)
      • Utilizes GPA Communications Calendar for post ideas
      • (Optional): Updates chapter website periodically throughout the year with chapter announcements and upcoming events
    • Time Commitment: Approximately 30 min - 1 hour per month (6-12 hours per year)
 
  • Meeting Scribe/Note Taker
    • ​Tasks: The Meeting Scribe/Note Taker of the GPA Oregon & SW Washington Chapter has the following duties:
      • Takes notes at quarterly chapter meetings and/or executive committee meetings (can have multiple meeting scribes between chapter and executive committee meetings to lessen total time commitment)
      • Sends meeting minutes to Secretary and Co-Presidents for review typically within one week following meetings
    • Time Commitment: 8 meetings per year (4 chapter meetings and 4 executive meetings) at approximately 1.5 hours per meeting (12 hours per year). Meetings are quarterly and executive meetings are about a month before the chapter meeting.
 
  • Technical Assistant
    • ​Tasks: The Meeting Technical Assistant of the GPA Oregon & SW Washington Chapter has the following duties:
      • Runs Zoom for quarterly chapter meetings, including: launching pre-defined polls, creating/monitoring pre-defined breakout rooms, monitoring chat for questions about technology/Zoom, and muting/removing disruptive or non-invited individuals from the meeting
      • Logs into quarterly meetings approximately 15 minutes early to ensure technology works and presenters have appropriate Zoom permissions (ex: sharing screen)
      • Provides an introduction to Zoom controls to the audience (ex: how to turn on closed captioning) - can use existing script
      • (Optional): Can also be a member of the Programming Committee; 6-8 committee meetings at approximately 45 minutes per meeting (6 hours per year) 
    • Time Commitment: Meetings: 4 chapter meetings at 1.75 hours per meeting, for a total of 7 hours per year
 
  • Programming Committee Member
    • Tasks: Members of the programming Committee of the GPA Oregon & SW Washington Chapter have the following duties:
      • Develop and coordinate the content for the chapter’s quarterly meetings
      • Ensure programming reflects evolving needs and interests of chapter members and supports members’ professional growth
    • Time Commitment:
      • Meetings: 12 (maximum) meetings per year, for a total of 12 hours per year. 6-8 committee meetings at approximately 45 minutes per meeting (6 hours per year), and 4 chapter meetings at approximately 1.5 hours per meeting (6 hours per year)
      • Tasks: Up to 30 minutes per month (depending on programming and presenters)
 
  • Programming Committee (Co-)Chair
    • Tasks: The Programming Committee (Co-)Chair of the GPA Oregon & SW Washington Chapter has the following duties:
      • Leads the development and coordination of content for the OR/SW Washington Chapter’s quarterly meetings
      • Ensures programming reflects the evolving needs and interests of chapter members and supports members’ professional growth
      • Leads meetings with the Programming Committee 
      • Attends Executive Committee meetings
    • Time Commitment:
      • Meetings: 16 (maximum) meetings per year, for a total of 18 hours per year
        • 6-8 committee meetings at approximately 45 minutes per meeting (6 hours per year)
        • 4 Executive Committee meetings at approximately 1.5 hours per meeting (6 hours per year)
        • 4 chapter meetings at approximately 1.5 hours per meeting (6 hours per year)
      • Tasks: 30 minutes - 3 hours per month (depending on programming and presenters)
 
  • DEIB Sub-committee Chair (can also include a Co-Chair)
    • Tasks: The DEIB Sub-committee Chair of the GPA Oregon & SW Washington Chapter has the following duties:
      • Along with other members of the DEIB Sub-committee and/or the Executive Committee, develops a Charter with ongoing and yearly goals/activities related to improving the diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility of the GPA ORSWW Chapter
      • Reads the Chapter’s Equity Statement and Agreements out loud at the beginning of each Executive Committee and Chapter meeting to remind everyone that all of our work is conducted from and within a DEIB framework
      • Acts as the primary contact for concerns related to DEIB from members, and facilitates troubleshooting/problem solving discussions with Executive Committee members
      • Acts as the primary liaison with current DEIB consultants (Empress Rules) when the need to address a concern or question requires additional input or expertise
    • Time Commitment: 
      • Meetings: 8 meetings per year (4 chapter meetings and 4 executive meetings) at approximately 1.5 hours per meeting (12 hours per year)
      • Tasks: Up to 30 minutes per month (depending on need)
